Ron Rezek has designed, manufactured and marketed innovative products including ground-breaking ceiling fans, lighting and lifeguard equipment. As the founder of The Modern Fan Company, in 1986 Rezek designed the world’s first contemporary-styled ceiling fan, the Stratos, in 1986. Rezek’s success with ceiling fans came after he was already an established lighting designer. Ron Rezek Lighting modernized the decorative lighting industry, starting in 1978. In 2004, he sold the company to long-time partner, Artemide, and continues to design lighting for the collection.

In 1990, he established Highlights, a group of high-end lighting showrooms in Santa Monica, San Francisco, San Diego, Miami and Seattle. Each showroom is a “gallery of lights” in modern design. Ron’s philosophy is described as “simplicity in form and economy in production.” Recognized for his lighting design leadership, Rezek has been invited to share his perspective to design communities across the U.S. and Europe.

Rezek received a B.A. and an M.F.A. from UCLA, and taught in the university’s art and architecture departments, as well as the Art Center College of Design and the Southern California Institute of Architecture.
